All eyes were set on Washington, D.C. this week as the EWA came crashing in to town. Crashing is not a relative term mind you, as the most anticipated match of the evening was the Extreme Championship match between Freakazoid and Donzig. With Spawn assigned as special guest referee, it seemed the odds favored the Freak Show. However, with tensions growing more and more between Freakazoid and Spawn, as well as Spawn's quest to find membership in the ranks of the Rebellion, all bets were assuredly off. As always, the Rebellion had a few tricks up their sleeve. While Spawn was temporarily "distracted" by the Extreme Champ, Rebellion member Doomsday crawled out from under the ring and assaulted the challenger with a series of strikes from his trusty pipe. Bloody and sufficiently beaten, Freakazoid suffered the wrath of the Hardcore Incarnate with a devastating "25"17" onto a steel chair, followed up by a pin. Donzig retained his Extreme Championship and the Rebellion scored a crushing victory against the Protection. Doomsday also made a challenge for the Tag Team Titles at Blood Harvest. Are the Protection's days numbered as champions? Spawn may have called the match right down the middle, but will that sate Freakazoid's fury?
In other amazing news, we had a triple threat #1 Contender's match for the EWA Women's Championship. Nikki Chalice, Sasha Talouse and the former Champion, Aether, squared off in a match that this reporter could easily call, a classic. The action was extremely intense, each competitor looking for a chance to get their hands on Phade after she slimed every single one of the competitors in black ooze last week before laying them all out. There were several pinfalls throughout the match, but only one reached that magic number 3. After a devastating "London Calling" from Sasha Talouse, she was prepared to make the pin on Nikki Chalice. It was at that moment that Aether jumped into action, hitting Aether with a springboard chest kick she calls "Blown Away". She quickly followed that up with the "Blown Away", tossing Sasha from the ring. As Nikki slowly began to stand, Aether hit her with a forward somersault three-quarter facelock jawbreaker named "Diamond Dust". When lucky number 3 was called, it was Aether pinning Nikki Chalice, vaulting herself back to the top of competition for the Women's Championship.
Earlier in the evening, we saw the Women's Champion, Phade, compete in a casket match against the EWA's own "Rocker Girl" Vivian Dean. During an interview with Chazz Chase, Vivian Dean was interrupted by a mysterious and somewhat startling video from Phade. Just as the video ended, Phade herself appeared in the ring and laid out her opponent before issuing a warning to her future contender as well as the EWA World Champion, Caspian Celette. She warned him of the Voodoo King's return at Blood Harvest. A commercial break later, the match was on. Vivian was still thrown off by the "Twist of Phade" she received during her interview, which gave a huge advantage to the Champion. It was just before Vivian was to be placed in the casket that Aether stormed the ring, assaulting the Women's Champion. When Phade finally decked Aether with the title belt, she turned her attention back to Dean, whom she threw into the casket and shut the lid. Phade should keep her eyes on Aether and the future to come, as they will face one-on-one at Blood Harvest. Will Aether be seeking redemption by taking the championship gold? Will Phade look for revenge on the attack during the match?
In the main event of the evening, World Champion Caspian Celette teamed up with Federation partner and former Cruiserweight Champion Oli Griffiths teamed against Doomsday and Christopher W. Evans. Griffiths and Evans have been at each others throats of late, ever since Evans was injured at the hands of Oli in a match that Griffiths was refereeing. Another match full of unbelievable action, the D.C. crowd stood in awe of the high-flying tag techniques of the Federation as well as the devastating power of Doomsday and CWE. It was after a "Beatdown" on Evans that it appeared that the Federation was going to score an amazing victory. Once again, Doomsday found himself running interference as he used that steel pipe once again to crack the skulls of Celette and Griffiths, breaking up the pinfall and ending the match. Though it was a loss for the former World Champion, Evans and Doomsday were all smiles as they stood over their fallen opponents. It appears that this feud between Evans and Griffiths is just getting started. It also appears that the insanity of Doomsday has only just begun to erupt. Tune in next week to Wednesday Night Face-Off to see all these events develop as the EWA rushes in to Winnipeg, Canada!
