A New Era, A Long Road

After being delayed by the Texas Dog Show, the EWA stormed into Houston on Friday night for a special episode of Wednesday Night Face-Off. We saw the dawning of a new era and a long road thrown down for one focused megastar. The Voodoo King shocked the world when he defeated Caspian Celette at Blood Harvest. With the disappearance of Celette and the injury of Aether, the Federation has been thrown into a great disadvantage in the raging civil war of the EWA. Things may have just become a lot easier for the Rebellion, but we'll discuss that more later. Onward to the events of the night!
Randy Roko was spitting fire and acid as Wednesday Night Face-Off begin early in the night. After an attack by the Garbage Man during the Pay Per View, Roko lost his chance to become the number one contender for the EWA Extreme Championship. In response, he not only blamed the Garbage Man, but the new number one contender, Fergus as well. Carrick would not accept such blame, bringing out an unconscious Garbage Man to ringside as a show of good faith. It was shortly after that the General Manager stepped in, before these two came to blows. Making a steadfast declaration, Griffin enforced his will by placing all three men in a Triple Threat match the next week on Face-Off in ANOTHER number one contender's match. Following the declaration, Roko took part in a scheduled match against the Garbage Man, whom he made quick work of. Debuting a new maneuver he calls "Torn", Roko made the pinfall directly after. The match time clocked in at 32 seconds! Will the Garbage Man be as incapable next week? Or will he look to get revenge on the "Ripper"? Also, what sort of impact will Fergus have on the match?
After embarrassing the Garbage Man, Roko gladly welcomed the cheers of the fans in Houston. There was one individual who was not so pleased. Later on in the evening, Clamps charged through the backstage area seeking out Fergus and hoping to get retribution for what the Garbage Man suffered. He did not find Roko. Instead, he found a surprise visitor by the name of Chris James. After rehabilitation from an injury he sustained before his original EWA debut, C.J. was in Houston looking to make an impact. He sure did that, with a sharp and devastating clothesline to the face of Clamps. Behind the scenes, C.J. demanded another shot in the EWA and his first match would be the following week. The General Manager welcomed him back to the surprise of most of the EWA Staff. Could the General Manager have a hidden agenda for this returning Megastar?
After a surprising loss at Blood Harvest to his former partner Spawn and his long-running nemesis Doomsday, Freakazoid has been on a rampage. Demanding a shot at the Voodoo King for the World Heavyweight Championship, Freakazoid was greeted with a dissenting "No" from the General Manager. Claiming that he wasn't a big enough star, Griffin said that Freakazoid needed to earn that opportunity by winning every single match up until the Pay Per View! That's a long road for the "Freak Show", but one that he's known quite well and could be capable of completing. The road will be rocky, as proved by the first obstacle. Facing off against tag team champion and former partner Spawn in a Last Man Standing Match is a rough start. Especially with Doomsday looming at ringside. Once again, Freakazoid proved how tough of a competitor he is by stomping through both men, before laying Spawn out with the Freaky Look Powerbomb for the ten count. With a start like that, how tough will this road be? Next week, he's set to face off against Oli Griffiths, but did Oli survive his run in with the current World Champ, the Voodoo King? Will Freakazoid have what it takes to reach the "giant" at the top of the mountain?
In the Main Event, we saw a tag team match for the ages. Two strangers, Fergus and Griffiths, paired off against two very familiar partners in the World Champion Voodoo King and his female companion, the Women's Champion, Phade. After devastating and injuring both of their opponents at Blood Harvest, the Champions came in with a full head of steam, seeking servants and followers in their era of domination. They've already dominated as Tag Champions, but now as they hold the top prizes in the industry, one has to wonder when it will all end. After toppling the Enigmatic Traveler and the Unstoppable Tornado, can anyone rise to the challenge? Fergus and Griffiths certainly tried. Fergus brought a very smashmouth style to the competition, while Griffiths brought his aerial techniques. The Voodoo King and Phade finally kept Griffiths grounded. After a Lion Tamer was applied by the Women's Champion on the former Cruiserweight Champion, the strange duo focused on a damaged knee, keeping the high-flyer firmly on the mat. With a strong "Wrath" powerbomb, Griffiths was planted for the pinfall, ending the contest. The Voodoo King remains in control, but for how long? Also, what is the condition of Oli Griffiths after the match? We'll have to stay tuned to next week's WNF to find out!
