Extreme Confusion

With Resolution just over two weeks away, we have another #1 contender for the EWA Extreme Championship. Now, I know what you're thinking... "Another" #1 Contender? You heard right. This week, the EWA rolled into San Antonio, Texas with one goal in mind. The goal was to clear up the confusion between the #1 contender, Carrick Fergus, and his opponents, Randy Roko and the Garbage Man. However, Carrick Fergus did not lose his #1 contendership. In fact, Randy Roko GAINED a number one contendership. In this Extreme Rules Triple Threat Pub Brawl, we saw destruction, we saw chaos, but we also saw one of the most confusing conclusions ever witnessed in an EWA ring. Shortly after the beginning of the match, the arena was littered with broken tables, wooden chairs, beer steins and stools. I'm sure that's an understatement of the carnage that was witnessed. With all three men bloodied and beaten, a winner had to be decided. It was at that moment that Carrick Fergus applied his "Four Leaf Clover" submission onto the Garbage Man. Unknowingly, Randy Roko also applied a submission that many know as the "Steiner Recliner". With two submissions applied, there was no doubt in anyone's mind that the Garbage Man would tap out. But who did he tap out to? Roko or Fergus? Who was going to move on to face Donzig at Resolution? At the end of the show, no announcement had been made. Having received word from EWA Headquarters, we now know that BOTH men will move on to face the Hardcore Incarnate at Resolution in ANOTHER Extreme Rules Triple Threat Match! However, so there's no confusion, it's going to be an ELIMINATION match! Someone will be declared winner! But who?
We also saw the official in-ring return of Chris James on Wednesday Night. After his run-in with Clamps the week prior, James was looking to make an impact and that he did! Using every move in his arsenal, he took Clamps to the woodshed and burned the damn thing down! The crowd was ecstatic, although this reporter can't say for sure whether it was due to Chris James popularity or the violence that ensued. After making an offer to Freakazoid earlier in the night for assistance, none was given or needed. After a devastating "Siege" off of the top turnbuckle, James exited the ring, grabbing a steel chair. When Clamps began to rise to his feet, James tossed him the chair, then immediately hit him with the "Final Spotlight", busting him wide open and laying him out for the three count. A huge victory for the returning Chris James. What effect will his interaction with Freakazoid earlier in the night lead to? With this momentum, what direction will Chris James head? Does he have gold on his mind?
The tag champions were irate as they entered San Antonio this week. After Spawn's loss to Freakazoid last week, the frustration was beginning to show on the face of his partner, Doomsday. After a harsh showdown in the locker room, these two men came out to the ring with one purpose: utter destruction. They were unwilling to underestimate their opponents, the former tag champion, Buckeyes. Instead of toying with their opponents, they made it quick and easy. Armed with his steel pipe, Doomsday immediately unleashed hell on Jeffrey Van Wood. Spawn did the same to Greg Fitzsimmons, but not with a pipe, with the steel steps instead! After a crushing chokeslam onto the steel steps, the "Frat Boy" was completely out of commission. This left his partner, Van Wood, open for a double team assault that this reporter will not forget. Following a huge Clothesline from Hell from Spawn, Van Wood was left helpless as Doomsday carefully placed his steel pipe in the center of the ring. Lifting his opponent into position, Doomsday followed up with a wrist lock inverted double underhook facebuster directly onto the pipe! The ring now stained with Van Wood's blood, Doomsday followed up with the pin, grinning evilly to his partner as the referee counted. Could this be the kick start the tag team champions need? With a love for pain like these two men have, who will stand up to them?
Another run for the title, another Scottish Gauntlet. As Freakazoid continues along his quest for the World Title, he faces another obstacle. At the behest of General Manager, Nicolas Griffin, it was expected that Freakazoid would face off against Oli Griffiths. After Griffiths was declared injured at the hands of the Voodoo King, Griff had another idea. A Scottish Gauntlet. Surprise, surprise! Faced off against several of the... undercarders... of the EWA, Freakazoid took them down one after another, much to the General Manager's dismay. Without a doubt, Freakazoid is slowly becoming the master of the Scottish Gauntlet. With his five victories, Freakazoid moves up to the top of the standings and onward toward his ultimate goal of facing down the Voodoo King at Resolution.
Trying to write a summary for the Main Event we witnessed would do the match no justice. So instead, I've provided a video clip for you, thanks to EWAFederation.com. Please enjoy.
[Before the World Champion and Xtreme Champion meet up in the main event, we're taken to the parking lot where a stretch limousine is seen waiting. The back door kicks open, and outsteps "The New Synsation", Alexis Morningstar. The fans in the arena aren't sure how to act as he brushes his long hair out of his face. He stands there for several seconds, taking it in. At this time, Chris James walks up to Alexis, as both nod at each other. They head towards the arena together. Cut to inside the arena
Donzig is out first, Voodoo King next. The fans are really into the beginning of the match with both men showing off a combination of power and technique. A back elbow tie up by Donzig, and Voodoo breaks the hold bouncing off the ropes and nailing a hard clothesline. The fans start to make noise as the cameras catch the scene of Alexis Morningstar and Chris James making their way through the crowd to the ring. "323" reaches the front row, and buys two seats from some on looking fans as they take in the main event from ring side seats.
Back in the ring, Voodoo King is in control after some quick elbow drops and a near fall. King drops a knee across Donzig's throat as Donzig gasps for breath. The World Champ stalks his opponent and lifts him off the mat into a gorilla press. Voodoo King thought about dropping him to the mat, but turns and launches Donzig over the top rope to the outside right in front of Morningstar and James! This draws a huge reaction from the fans who are digging the action before them. Voodoo King stays in the ring, as the ref starts a ten. Morningstar grabs a drink and splashes it on Donzig, which stirs the Extreme Champion to his feet and in Morningstar's face! The crowd explodes!
Donzig lunges at Morningstar, both having a past with the other. but Morningstar thinks fast and takes out his ticket! Donzig stops, knowing striking a paying customer is grounds for suspension. Morningstar laughs and backs off. Voodoo King jumps on Don from behind, capitalizing on the distraction. Donzig's head goes off the barricade, ring apron, and steel steps before Voodoo King rolls him into the ring to break the count. Morningstar and Chris James are laughing at Donzig from the front row, as the world champ is back on offense.
James and Morningstar gather the fans into a "DONZIG SUCKS" chant. Donzig catches wind of this, and it infuriates the Extreme Champion who catches Voodoo off guard with a quick reverse neckbreaker! (Frontwards Stunner) Donzig kicks up and locks Voodoo King in a grapevine, and asks the ref to check for a submission. Voodoo doesn't quit. Donzig grabs Voodoo Kings legs and locks in the Pennsylvania Cloverleaf!!! Sensing a Donzig victory, James practically pulls himself over the guard rail, and stares right at Donzig mouthing off to the Extreme Champion. Fans who follow other promotions, know these two hate each other. Donzig releases the hold and rolls to the outside to confront CJ. James backs off again, getting the better of Donzig possibly even costing him the match. "323" is certainly playing a part in this match.
Voodoo King pulls Donzig by his hair into the ring and drops Donzig neck first across the top rope, trying to injure Donzigs neck for the impending Tombstone thats coming. Voodoo King sends the signal and waits for Donzig to get in the ring. Voodoo King nails a wicked big boot as James and Morningstar cover their mouths in disgust, selling the move from the outside. Voodoo King points to James and Morningstar, before grabbing Donzig and setting him up for a Tombstone. Morningstar sends a smug look to TVK, telling him to bring it. Donzig reverses the move, and nails a TOMBSTONE of his own!!! What a match saving counter! Donzig tries a pin, but The Voodoo King kicks out at two and a half!! Wow!
Donzig runs off the ropes, and tries a Don Sault, put catches knees to the gut! Voodoo King stands up, and grabs Donzig and nails a chokeslam! Donzig is out. The Voodoo King again looks towards "323" and signals for The Verdict. He lifts Donzig to his shoulders and thats a legit three! The Voodoo King is your winner via pinfall.
Afterwards. Morningstar and James stare down Voodoo King from the outside, telling him to keep the title warm, and motioning title signs across their waist. Voodoo King simply stares at them, and holds the EWA World Title high in the air as the show fades to black.]
The new tag team of James and Morningstar certainly played a major part in that main event. But why? What purpose could it serve? Do they have World TItle hopes... as a duo? With Morningstar's big debut next week in a tag team match with James, will they make an impact as a tag team, let alone singles competitors? What threat could they face when they match up against the Women's Champion, Phade, and the World Champion, the Voodoo King? What condition is Donzig in after that match? So many questions! Hopefully we'll have some answers next week on Wednesday Night Face-Off!
(Thanks to CJ for writing that main event match!)
