There has been a lot of confusion over how posts are rated and how the outcome of a match is decided. This is our chance to clarify and answer a lot of the questions that have been floating around. When reading the system, keep in mind that some matches may have their outcome decided because of storyline necessity! So, if you feel that your posts should have been rated higher than your opponent's, be mindful that there may be a reason behind your loss. We're not attempting to punish or cheat anyone, we're just looking to make the game fun all around and provide an interesting setting/story that these characters are placed in! Here we go...
The Post Rating System follows a very simple concept. We rate every post a player makes, than choose three of the scores. This does not mean you should only post three and that if you post less than three, you'll automatically lose. We encourage you to post more than three, but we also encourage that you put a lot of thought into what you are posting, because here's the kicker... The posts that are chosen to determine a player's overall score for the week is from their two highest and one lowest rated posts. If every post is quality, than it's no big deal. If a player spams the board with a few quality posts and a few "not so quality" posts, this could dramatically effect a player's overall score. SO BEWARE!
Every post starts with a score of 10. As we read through the posts, we may subtract (or add) points as certain issues come up. Some of those issues include:
-Spelling: Poor spelling could cause a post to lose up to 2 points from its score. Use spell check!
-Grammar: Poor grammar could cause a post to lose up to 2 points from its score. Proofread!
-Formatting: If a post does not have any form of recognizable formatting, it will lose points. An example of a post lacking formatting is a big block of text. No distinguishing markers for action vs. speech. There are a variety of ways you can format your posts, but there has to be some recognizable format!
-Excessive Swearing: We all like to curse. It's human nature. However, this is meant to be a game representing a professional wrestling show. We don't mind the occasional swear word, if dramatically appropriate, but when a post looks like a scene from the Big Lebowski, then problems start to occur. This is a game open to the public and though we don't have a bunch of toddlers lurking around, anyone can see what is written here. Please be mindful. We don't want anyone to take offense to what is written. It's a game. It's supposed to be fun for everyone.
-The TBC: Every post MUST have a TBC at the end. Whether it's a "TBC: Anyone" or a "TBC: END" (only if you're the first and only poster). Not having a TBC at the end of your post will result in a point being marked off.
-Content: Does the post mean anything? Does it have a point? Does it make any impact or further any storyline/feud? Is it pivotal for character development? Is it entertaining television? If we believe the answer is yes to any of these questions, you will not be marked down. If the answer is no to ALL of these questions, you can lose between 1 or 2 points. If the answer is yes to ALL of these questions, you could be GIVEN 1 or 2 points in response! That's right, EXTRA CREDIT!
-Run-On/Too Short: We all have a lot to say. When posts become repetitive, it becomes boring to read. This could cause the loss of a point. If the post is TOO short, it may not be counted at all or could be marked down. "If you can say in 50 words what you say in 100, say it in 50". But also keep in mind, "If you say in 10 words what you SHOULD say in 100, say it in 100".
I know this seems like a lot to remember. There is nothing wrong with losing a point off your score. At the moment, the average amongst players is about an 8. That's not a bad average, but it could be higher! Now, here's some other things that can help you!
Extra Credit!
-See "Content" above.
-Does it make us laugh? (It has to make us laugh, not you think we should laugh)
-Does it make another character look good? (Even bad guys can do this for their good guy opponents)
Those are just a few examples and it does not mean that we will always give points for it. There is just a good possibility we will.
We're not posting this to punish anyone or make anyone feel bad, just to clear up some of the dust clouds that have formed since our opening. These rules are subject to change, but overall, the concept will remain the same. Keep up the good work everyone and we look forward to what the future will hold!
